Toxin Free DIY Foamy Slime

Foamy Slime DIY recipe fun

We love open ended sensory play in our house. Being a Kindergarten teacher I have a few tricks up my sleeve to keep my Daughter entertained. But when we make anything sensory it MUST be natural and completely toxin free.

Children love to get slime and foam all over themselves, they will rub it all over their arms, get it in their hair and all over their clothes. With all that touching their skin wouldn’t you want it to be safe?

Want to know how I make healthy Foamy Slime?

All you need is:
1/4 cup Natural soap flakes
1.5 cups Water
2 drops Lavender Essential Oil (optional)

Stick it in a large tub (this one was actually a little small and it all overflowed) and using a hand mixer on a medium speed mix until thick bubbles have formed. That’s it! when the tub is getting empty because they are all over your child (or the floor) give it another mix. You can do this several times for bubbly fun.

At my work my coworkers will often use soap flakes from the supermarket but they are full of synthetic fragrance (honestly they give me a headache). The EWG reports that Synthetic fragrances can cause skin allergies and irritation in people, particularly children . Fragrance can also be a hormone distributor and exacerbate asthma and allergies according to Nicole Bijslma, Building biologist and author of Healthy Home, Healthy Family.

So I choose to use a natural soap flake. These are my fav, and also amazing for washing clothes, soaking nappies or cloth pads, DIY cleaning recipes and more. So handy to have in the house and last such a long time!
